Decent Homes for Stevenage Homes

As part of the Decent Homes programme, BDR Thermea has teamed up with national heating and property maintenance contractor PH Jones to supply and install new high efficiency heating solutions to 7,500 dwellings belonging to Stevenage Homes in Hertfordshire - bringing significant benefits to residents.

Streamlined supply chain

A major project by Stevenage Borough Council aims at upgrading all of Stevenage Homes' tenanted dwellings to meet the Decent Homes Standard by 2013. To achieve this, BDR Thermea has joined forces with PH Jones and ALMO (Arms Length Management Organisation) Stevenage Homes.

To further support the initiative BDR Thermea appointed PH Jones as its local service agent. As the housing stock at Stevenage Homes consists of varying properties - from flats to large houses - a number of high efficiency boilers and heating solutions were required for the refurbishment.

Bespoke solutions

Three different types of high efficiency Baxi gas boilers were specified to suit the range of properties and their diverse needs: the Baxi Solo HE heat-only boiler, the Baxi Duo-tec Combi HE and the Baxi Megaflo System HE.

The highly advanced Baxi Solo HE is the natural solution where space is limited and offers a full range of models, making it the perfect choice for any size of property. The award-winning Baxi Duo-tec Combi HE is stylish, versatile and easy to operate, while the Baxi Megaflo System HE is designed for fully pumped sealed systems and will also work with central heating and indirect hot water systems.

Key features and benefits:

  • High efficiency solution - SEDBUK 2005 >90% rating lowers fuel costs and carbon emissions compared to traditional boilers
  • Wide range of outputs for natural gas available to suit a variety of property sizes
  • User-friendly with easy-to-operate controls
  • Fully modulating burner - reduces fuel consumption and prolongs boiler life
  • Contemporary, compact and stylish design

Paul O'Donnell, project leader, Stevenage Homes is thrilled with the collaboration:

" Stevenage Homes is committed to providing decent homes for all our residents. Replacing old inefficient boilers with new high efficiency models helps to lower their fuel use and save them money. Furthermore, BDR Thermea's service agreement with PH Jones will ensure our residents are fully supported and that we deliver an excellent and efficient service.”

The Decent Homes Standard
