BDR Thermea's Multifit GasSaver helps Aster Group crack the code in Bristol

Installation of BDR Thermea high efficiency boilers, integrated with innovative Multifit GasSaver heat recovery devices, has enabled Aster Group to successfully meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes on its Narroways Road development in Bristol.

A winning combination

Aster Group, who own and manage around 17,000 affordable homes in central south and southwest regions, has recently opened its Narroways Road scheme.

Constructed by the Leadbitter Group, Narroways, comprising 25 residential and retail properties, needed to meet the required Standard  Assessment Procedure (SAP) rating and achieve Code Level 3.

The Potterton Promax Combi boilers installed with Multifit GasSavers enabled Aster Group to provide a high quality, cost effective heating and hot water solution that meets SAP requirements, at Narroways Road.

Tenants are familiar with the combi boiler and how it works, and the Multifit GasSaver builds on the boiler's own high efficiency to deliver even better performance.

How it works

The Multifit GasSaver is a passive flue gas heat recovery unit. It sits neatly between the boiler and its flue, recycling the heat from the flue gases which would otherwise be expelled into atmosphere and wasted. This heat is then used to preheat water coming into the boiler from the cold mains supply.

The Multifit GasSaver

• Listed as an approved technology under SAP Appendix Q
• Recommended for use by the Energy Savings Trust
• Can reduce the gas used to heat hot water by up to 37% annually

The Potterton Promax 28 HE Plus

Is a combination boiler which is SEDBUK 2005 (>90%) rated and capable of a 91.4% operating efficiency.
